How to Delete Messages From Facebook Marketplace?

A nifty feature in Facebook Marketplace is the Marketplace inbox, where you can send messages to other users without having to go through a friend or message requests. It also has the additional feature of compiling all your messages on the platform.

Although this feature is useful, it can become very hectic when your inbox gets cluttered with different messages you’ve sent and received. One of the best ways to prevent clutter is to delete any old messages.

In this article, we’ll show you how Facebook Marketplace delete inbox messages are done and how to locate your Marketplace inbox and old messages on the platform.

How to Delete Messages From Facebook Marketplace?

Deleting a message/conversation in your Marketplace inbox can be done through the Facebook app or its companion Messenger app.

Between the two, it is easier to delete messages through the Facebook app, and it can be done through your Marketplace inbox.

Find the message/conversation you want to be deleted in your Marketplace inbox. Once you find it, tap and swipe the conversation to the left to access the message actions.

Tap on the trash bin icon to delete the conversation in the message actions. Once you confirm the action, this will delete the entire conversation and its messages.

However, this will only delete your copy of the conversation and not the other user’s.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how to delete messages from Facebook Marketplace

1. Open your Facebook Marketplace

The Facebook app makes it easier to locate and delete any message in your Marketplace inbox than Messenger. This is because, in Messenger, your messages in the Marketplace are combined with your regular messages making it harder to locate compared to using the Facebook app.

To open your Marketplace inbox, you would need to go to Facebook Marketplace by tapping on the Marketplace icon on the menu of your Facebook app.

2. Tap on your Profile

In Facebook Marketplace, to find and access your Marketplace inbox, you would need to tap on the profile button found on the upper right portion of Facebook Marketplace.
Step 3. Select the “Inbox” tab

After opening your Marketplace profile, select and tap on “Inbox” from the menu to open your Marketplace inbox. Tapping on this will redirect you to a page containing all your messages in the Facebook Marketplace.

3. Find the Message you Want to Delete

The Facebook app makes it easier to locate and delete any message in your Marketplace inbox between the two apps.

This is because, in Messenger, your messages in the Marketplace are combined with your regular messages making it harder to locate compared to using the Facebook app.

After opening your Marketplace inbox in your Facebook app, find the Message you want to delete in your inbox.

Every conversation in your inbox is arranged chronologically, so if you want to delete old messages, then simply scroll down until you find them.

4. Swipe the Conversation Box to the Left

Once you find the Message, you delete, tap and swipe the tab containing the Message to the left. This will show you the different actions you can do for a message. The actions are as follows:

  • More – Tapping on this will show additional actions that you can do, such as opening the conversation in Messenger, mute the conversation, leave the chat or send reports to Facebook.
  • Mute – Tapping on this will mute any notifications from the conversation for a certain amount of time or until you turn it back on.
  • Delete – As the name implies, tapping on this will delete the conversation and remove it from your Marketplace inbox.

5. Tap on Delete (Trash Bin Icon)

Tap on the third option to delete a conversation between the three message actions. You will then be asked to confirm the action as confirming this will permanently delete the conversation and remove it from your inbox.

However, it should be noted that using this option will only delete your copy of the conversation and not the other user. The other user will have to delete it themselves if you want that also deleted.
